7042-CR8 is the IBM rack-mounted Hardware Management Console for POWER processor-based servers. Its base configuration uses the 7914-PCH server machine type, shared with the 7042-CR7, and the chassis comes with either a 2.5-inch or a 3.5-inch hard disk drive at the front.
The processor in the 7042-CR8 is an Intel Xeon E5-2640 at 2.0 GHz with 20 MB of cache, 1600 MHz and 95 W, an 8-core part with FRU 00Y2782. Memory is an 8 GB single-rank 1.35 V DDR3 1600 MHz RDIMM, part 00D5038, which differs from the dual-rank 1333 MHz DIMM of the CR7. Power comes from a 550 W AC supply, 43X3312, and the server carries a DVD-RW drive 44W3256.
Storage is the 2.5-inch hot-swap 500 GB 7.2K drive 81Y9727 behind a 2.5-inch hot-swap backplane 94Y7587, with a ServeRAID M5110 SAS/SATA adapter 81Y4482 and the system board 00Y8375. The 7042-CR8 does not support internal or external modems.
