Cisco NCS 5500 Fixed Router with 24 x 40/100GE and 96 x 10/25GE Ports, NCS-55A1-24H

NCS-55A1-24H is a 1RU Cisco Network Convergence System 5500 fixed router with 96 ports of 10GE/25GE and 24 ports of 40GE/100GE. Breakout works with certain transceivers: QSFP28 optics give 100GE or 25GE breakout, and QSFP+ optics give 40GE and 4x10GE breakout.

System throughput reaches 1.8 Tbps and route scale reaches 2M FIB entries. The integrated route processor runs 64-bit IOS XR on an 8-core x86 CPU at 1.6 GHz, with 32 GB of system memory and a 128 GB solid-state disk. Software support starts at IOS XR 6.3.1, and the timing standards (SyncE, G.8265.1, G.8275.1, G.8275.2, G.8273.2) from 6.5.2.

Two RJ-45 ports handle console and management LAN. Timing interfaces include TOD ports (UART1 with RS422 and RS232) and a 10 MHz and 1PPS I/O connector, plus an external USB port and eUSB flash storage.

Cooling and power are hot-swappable: two power supplies in 1+1 redundancy and three fan trays. Airflow is reversible and set by the power supply and fan tray PIDs. The fan trays are NC55-A1-FAN-FW (port-side intake) and NC55-A1-FAN-RV (port-side exhaust), and the power supplies are NCS-1100W-ACFW, NCS-1100W-ACRV, NCS-1100W-DCRV and NCS-950W-DCFW. Power input is AC 90-265 V or DC -40 to -72 V. Typical output power is 600 W at 27 C and maximum is 800 W at 55 C.

The chassis is 1.72 in (4.36 cm) high, 17.3 in (43.94 cm) wide and 21.7 in (55.12 cm) deep, and weighs 24 lb (10.89 kg). It is designed to meet NEBS GR-63-CORE and GR-1089-CORE. The bundle form is NCS-55A1-24H-B.
