IBM feature #ESGT is a 387 GB Enterprise SAS 5xx SFF-3 SSD for AIX and Linux, CCIN 5B19. It installs in the SFF-3 drive bays of the IBM Power L922 (9008), the Power S922, S914 and S924 (9009) and the Power E950 (9040). The drive is a 2.5-inch SAS solid-state drive mounted in a Gen3 tray or carrier, which makes it an SFF-3 device; SFF-1 and SFF-2 drives do not fit those bays.
Per-system maximums are 8 drives in the Power S922, L922 and E950 and 18 drives in the Power S914 and S924. The Power S922, S914, S924 and E950 support the drive under AIX and Linux, while the Power L922 supports it under Linux. #ESGT is the 5xx-sector counterpart of the 4k SFF-3 drive CCIN 5B13 identified as #ES90 and #ESB8, and it carries the same CCIN 5B19 and the same description as feature #ESB0.
The SFF-3 bays sit on the system-unit storage backplane, which accepts HDDs, SSDs or a mixture of both; mixed HDDs and SSDs go into separate arrays unless IBM Easy Tier is used. The integrated SAS RAID controllers on the backplane provide RAID 0, 5, 6 and 10, with RAID 5 needing at least three drives of the same capacity and RAID 6 at least four. All SFF-3 bays support concurrent maintenance (hot-plug).
