IBM feature #ES02 is a 387 GB 1.8-inch SAS solid-state drive with eMLC flash for AIX and Linux, CCIN 58BB, drive FRU 00V5433. It is the SSD for the EXP30 Ultra SSD I/O Drawer (#EDR1, CCIN 57C3), a drawer with 30 hot-swap SSD bays, and the 1.8-inch SAS drives can be added or removed while the drawer is in use. The drive is supported on the POWER7+ Power 710 and 730 (8231), Power 720 and 740 (8202, 8205), Power 750 (8408) and Power 770 and 780 (9117, 9179).
A minimum of six SSDs are required in each Ultra drawer. Each controller can access all 30 SSD bays; the bays can be one set run by a pair of controllers working together, or two logical sets where each controller owns one set. If one controller fails, the other can run both sets. The drawer is attached through a GX++ PCIe adapter, such as #1914 (CCIN 2B94) on the Power 770 and 780.
Feature #ES02 and feature #ES04 are identical SSD drives with separate feature codes for the operating system: #ES02 is used for AIX and Linux and #ES04 is used for IBM i, and #EL34 is the PowerLinux feature code for the same drive.
