Under option 00AJ166 Lenovo sold the S3700 800GB SATA 2.5" MLC G3HS Enterprise SSD, feature code A4U5: 800GB, 2.5-inch and ships on a Gen 3 hot-swap (G3HS) tray.
Intel 25 nm MLC flash with High Endurance Technology sits behind a 6 Gbps SATA interface in this S3700 drive. Lenovo lists AES-256 encryption, end-to-end data path protection, thermal throttling and power loss data protection, plus 2,000,000 hours MTBF and 50/65 microsecond read/write latency.
For the 800GB model Lenovo gives 14.6 PB total bytes written for five years, 75,000/36,000 read/write IOPS on 4 KB transfers and 500 MBps/460 MBps sequential read/write on 128 KB transfers.
Lenovo sizes the S3700 line for write-heavy work: the whole drive can be rewritten up to ten times a day for five years. That is the main difference from Enterprise Value SSDs, which have a lower cost per IOPS but far less endurance.
The product guide marks it as supported in the x3550 M5 (5463), x3650 M5 (5462) and x3850 X6/x3950 X6, plus Flex System x240 and x440. Lenovo's Configuration and Options Guide of 17 January 2017 also lists it for the x3500 M5, x3550 M5 (8869), x3650 M5 (8871) and x3750 M4 (8753), marked with an asterisk as withdrawn.
Fit check: before swapping, read 00AJ166 or FC A4U5 from the drive or the system configuration and check the 2.5-inch G3HS hot-swap bay. Related: 00AJ156, 41Y8341.
