4XB7A17121 (feature code BA7N) is the ThinkSystem 3.5-inch S4520 1.92TB Read Intensive SATA 6Gb hot-swap SSD. The S4520 uses 144-layer Intel 3D NAND TLC flash on a 6 Gbps SATA interface and is tuned for read-intensive jobs such as boot drives, web servers, light operational databases and analytics. Compared with the S4510 series, these drives offer improved endurance.
The 1.92TB capacity reaches 91,000 random read IOPS and 38,000 random write IOPS with 4 KB blocks, plus 550 MBps sequential read and 510 MBps sequential write with 128 KB blocks. Sequential latency is 37 µs for reads and 38 µs for writes, and random latency is 104 µs for reads and 54 µs for writes. Typical active-write power is 3.1 W.
Endurance is 2.5 drive writes per day over 5 years, with 8.8 PB total bytes written and an MTBF of 2,000,000 hours. Data reliability is better than 1 unrecoverable error in 10^17 bits read. The drive has no SED encryption option, but it includes AES 256-bit encryption, full end-to-end data path protection, enhanced power-loss data protection and thermal throttling.
