817762-B21 is the HPE Ethernet 4x25Gb 1-port 620QSFP28 adapter. HPE PartSurfer lists the spare as 840134-001 and describes it as an Ethernet adapter with 4 lanes of 25 Gb, quad small form factor (QSFP), so a single QSFP28 port carries four 25 Gb lanes rather than two separate SFP28 ports.
That shape decides what you plug into it. A QSFP28 port takes QSFP28 optics and cables, not SFP28 or SFP+ modules, so check what your switch end expects. HPE's QuickSpecs for its 25G and 100G transceivers list QSFP28 options such as the 100Gb QSFP28 MPO SR4 100 m transceiver (845966-B21) and the 100Gb QSFP28 bidirectional transceiver (845972-B21), but that document does not state which adapters each one is validated with. Confirm optic support for this adapter before buying cables.
