The FC32-X7-48 is a 48-port 32Gb Fibre Channel port blade for the Brocade X7-8 and X7-4 directors, which IBM sells as the SAN512B-7 and SAN256B-7. It sits in the same slots as the FC64-48 blade.
All 48 front-end ports are SFP+ and run at 32, 16, 10, 8 or 4Gbps. The 10Gbps transceivers work in any port but only as E_Ports, and they are not interchangeable with the SX6 extension blade. Trunking groups up to eight ports into 256Gbps ISL trunks.
Broadcom lists two order numbers: BR-X732-2148 with 48 x 32G short-wave SFP+ and BR-X732-5148 with 48 x 32G long-wave SFP+. NetApp's equivalents are X-X7-32G-2148 and X-X7-32G-5148.
Broadcom names the FC32-X7-48 among the ports for its Gen 7 secure 32G optics, such as the short-wave XBR-000412 and the 10 km long-wave XBR-000438.
For the 16Gb DCX 8510 generation see the FC16-32 32-port blade and FC16-48 48-port blade; the Brocade category has the rest.
