CR32-4 is the core routing blade of the Brocade X6-4 Director. Its FRU number is XBR-X64-0106; it is a core routing blade with eight 4x32G QSFP+ ports and was introduced with Fabric OS 8.0.1. Core routing blades switch traffic between port blades, and Broadcom states that this one is compatible only with the X6-4.
Two CR32-4 blades go in slots 5 and 6, which are reserved for them; port and extension blades use slots 3, 4, 7 and 8. Each blade provides 96 backplane ports toward the port blades and 32 front-end ports, which map to the 8 QSFP transceivers on the faceplate. Every QSFP port carries four 32G Fibre Channel links, or 128G per connection.
The faceplate QSFP ports build inter-chassis links (ICLs) to up to nine directors in a full mesh or 12 directors in a core-to-edge layout. Ports 0, 1, 5 and 4 form one ICL trunk set and ports 2, 3, 6 and 7 form the other, and a trunk needs links from at least two different QSFPs because the four links inside one QSFP end on different ASICs.
LEDs show blade power (green), blade status (amber) and QSFP port status (green or amber). Without media the blade is 3.63 cm high, 42.06 cm long and 34.13 cm deep (1.43 x 16.56 x 13.44 in) and weighs 3.92 kg (8.65 lb). Related chassis parts are in the Brocade parts category.
