BR-G720-24-32G-R is a Brocade G720 Gen 7 Fibre Channel switch in the 24-port configuration. Broadcom names it as the replacement for BR-G620-24-32G-R-1, a 24-port switch with 32G SWL SFPs, AC power and port-side exhaust. The G720 replaces the G620 across the family.
The G720 has 64 ports when fully enabled: 48 SFP+ ports at up to 64G and eight SFP-DD ports that each carry two 64G links. It ships with 24 ports active. Three 8-port SFP+ Ports on Demand licenses and one 16-port SFP-DD license raise it to 64. The ports auto-sense 8, 10, 16, 32 and 64G.
Aggregate bandwidth is 4.096 Tb/s, with 460 ns latency for locally switched ports, which Broadcom puts at 50 percent below the previous generation. The switch carries 24K frame buffers per switching ASIC. ISL trunks join up to eight SFP+ ports for up to 512 Gb/s.
The 1U chassis is 440 mm wide, 43.9 mm high and 355.6 mm deep. It weighs 7.34 kg with two power supplies and fans but no transceivers, or 8.78 kg fully populated. The dual hot-swap power supplies are 80 Plus Gold units for 90 to 264 V AC. Maximum draw is 349 W with all 64 ports at 64G, 57 W for an empty chassis, and heat dissipation is 1,192 BTU/hr. The G720 is built with front-to-back or back-to-front airflow.
