HPE PartSurfer describes 738239-001 as a system board that supports Intel Xeon E5-2600 v2 (Ivy Bridge) and E5-2600 (Sandy Bridge) processors. The spare kit includes the sub pan, an alcohol pad and a thermal grease syringe, which are used when the existing processors are moved from the failed board and re-seated with fresh thermal compound. HPE adds that the processors must share the same spare part number.
PartSurfer lists the board in 88 configurations. Almost all are ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades, both configure-to-order models with 1Gb or 10Gb FlexibleLOM and pre-configured E5-2609 and E5-2620 models; the rest are H3C B390 and B590 FlexServer blades.
Support for both processor generations is the useful detail for owners of older blades: the same board serves BL460c Gen8 units shipped with original E5-2600 processors and those built with E5-2600 v2. When two processors are fitted, they must be a matched pair with the same spare number, per HPE's note, so an upgrade replaces both.
The board is the replacement after HPE diagnostics or a technician isolate a failed system board; it does not include processors, memory or FlexibleLOM adapters, which transfer from the old board.
To confirm fit, check that the enclosure blade is a BL460c Gen8 (or one of the listed H3C FlexServer blades) and compare the spare label on the installed board with 738239-001.
