IBM feature #EM4C is a 32GB (2x16GB) memory feature of two 16 GB DIMMs, 1066 MHz, 4Gb DDR3 DRAM, for the POWER7+ Power 720 (machine type 8202), Power 740 (8205), Power 710 and Power 730 (8231), Power 750 (8408) and Power 760 (9109). The two DIMMs are installed together. In the Power 710, 730, 720 and 740 they go in slots on a memory riser card, and a Power 720 with the 4-core processor module (#EPCK) cannot use #EM4C or #EM4D.
On the Power 710 and Power 730 a system can be ordered with a single memory feature, the second feature on the same riser card does not have to match the first, and a minimum of one memory feature must be plugged into each riser card. On the Power 720 and Power 740, features #EM08, #EM4B, #EM4C and #EM4D can be mixed on the same riser card while there is only one type of DIMM in the same quad. The 6-core and 8-core Power 720 holds 256 GB on one riser card and 512 GB on two.
On the Power 750 and Power 760 the DIMM cards are 30 mm high, industry standard DDR3 registered DIMMs running at 1066 MHz, and #EM4C is orderable on both. The minimum memory for those systems is 32 GB with one or two dual chip modules, 48 GB with three and 64 GB with four. The Power 750 supports up to 1 TB and the Power 760 up to 2 TB. PowerLinux systems order the same 32 GB memory as #EL2R and #EL2T.
