ST10000NM017B is the standard 10TB model in the 5xxE/4096 configuration of the Seagate Exos 7E10 SATA family: 512-byte logical sectors over 4096-byte physical sectors, no drive-based encryption. The spindle turns at 7200 RPM, the cache buffer is 256MB and average latency is 4.16 ms.
Ten heads work across five discs at an areal density of 1215 Gb/in2, with a recording density of 2499 Kb/in and a track density of 487 ktracks/in. Outer-diameter sustained transfer reaches 251 MiB/s (263 MB/s), and the SATA interface carries up to 600MB/s.
Startup draws a typical 2.5A on the 12V rail and power-on to ready takes 23 seconds typical.
The annualized failure rate is 0.44% at 8760 power-on hours, the workload ceiling is under 550TB per year, and nonrecoverable read errors are limited to one sector per 10E15 bits read.
