3573-8448 is an IBM feature code: machine type 3573 with feature 8448, the Ultrium 7 Half-High Fibre Channel drive for the TS3100 and TS3200 tape libraries. IBM's TS3100 sales manual describes it as an LTO-7 half-height drive with a single 8 Gbps Fibre Channel port, available for the TS3100 model L2U and the TS3200 model L4U as a field-installed feature. Related drive features under the same machine type are 8447 (Ultrium 7 half-height SAS), 8348 (Ultrium 6 half-height Fibre Channel) and 8548 (Ultrium 8 half-height Fibre Channel). IBM lists feature 8448 as no longer available from December 31, 2023. The TS3100 is a 2U library and the TS3200 a 4U library, and both take half-height drives. To confirm fit, read the library's machine type-model (3573-L2U or 3573-L4U), check the Fibre Channel host connection and confirm the library firmware supports LTO-7.
