Cisco Catalyst 9400 Series Supervisor v1 Module

C9400-SUP-1 is the Cisco Catalyst 9400 Series Supervisor v1 module, which Cisco describes as the supervisor engine designed for access. It is built on the Cisco UADP 2.0 ASIC and carries 16 GB of DRAM and 10 GB of flash. Cisco gives the centralized wired capacity as up to 1.44 Tbps, with a forwarding rate of 900 Mpps for IPv4 and 782.6 Mpps for IPv6 and a 96 MB packet buffer.

With a single supervisor the uplinks can be configured as 8 x 10G on ports 1 to 8, 2 x 40G on ports 9 and 10, or 4 x 10G plus 1 x 40G. In a dual-supervisor chassis each supervisor uses 4 x 10G on ports 1 to 4, 1 x 40G on port 9, or a mix of 1 x 40G and 4 x 10G. In the C9404R, C9407R and C9410R chassis it delivers 80 Gbps per slot, against 240 Gbps per slot for C9400-SUP-1XL in the C9404R.

The supervisor goes in slot 2 or 3 of the C9404R, slot 3 or 4 of the C9407R and slot 5 or 6 of the C9410R, with 1+1 redundancy on the R chassis. Minimum software is Cisco IOS XE 16.9.1 on the C9404R and 16.6.1 on the C9407R and C9410R. Hardware scale includes 64,000 MAC addresses, 4,096 VLAN IDs and jumbo frames up to 9,216 bytes. Power is 400 W maximum, the MTBF is 253,010 hours and the module weighs 10 lb (4.5 kg).
