WS-X6708-10G-3C is the Cisco Catalyst 6500 8-Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet Module with DFC3C, and it requires X2 optics. Supported X2 types are 10GBASE-CX4, -SR, -LRM, -LX4, -LR and -ER. For EMI compliance the SR, LR, ER, LX4 and CX4 optics must be version -02 or later.
The module has a 40 Gbps connection to the switch fabric (80 Gbps full duplex) with 2:1 oversubscription, and it supports 64 Gbps of local switching. All eight ports can be used to create a virtual switch link in a VSS. The DFC3C distributes forwarding for up to 256,000 routes. The WS-X6708-10G-3CXL variant uses a DFC3CXL for 1 million routes; both variants have eight ports.
It is supported in Catalyst 6500 E-Series chassis, including the 6503-E, 6504-E, 6506-E, 6509-E and 6509-V-E, and for certain 7600 Series chassis. It is not supported in the non-E 6503. In a 6513 or 7613 chassis it occupies slots 9 through 13 only. It works with Supervisor Engine 720-10GE or Supervisor 720 with any PFC. The module ships with the WS-F6700-DFC3C card.
