ST16000NM002H is the 16TB Instant Secure Erase (ISE) model in the Seagate Exos X24 SATA series. It ships as 512E, with 512-byte logical sectors on 4096-byte physical sectors, and can be Fast Formatted to 4KN. The cache buffer is 512MB and the spindle turns at 7200 RPM.
Areal density is 1260 Gb/in2, the internal data transfer rate reaches 2951 Mb/s, and sustained transfer at the outer diameter is 259 MiB/s (272 MB/s), with a maximum of 272 MiB/s (285 MB/s). SATA 6Gb/s carries up to 600MB/s, and average latency is 4.16 ms.
Startup draws a typical 2.6A on the 12V rail, with 25 seconds typical power-on to ready.
The annualized failure rate is 0.35% at 8760 power-on hours, workload tops out at under 550TB per year, the drive is rated for 600,000 load-unload cycles, and nonrecoverable read errors are limited to one sector per 10E15 bits read. The self-encrypting 16TB model is ST16000NM001H.
