15454-40-SMR2-C is the Cisco 40-channel single-module ROADM for the ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform. Cisco orders it as the 40-channel single-module ROADM with integrated optical pre-amplifier and boost amplifier.
The single card combines the OSC add/drop filter, the pre- and boost amplifiers and a 4x1 wavelength-selective-switch ROADM core. That 4x1 core supports multi-degree nodes up to Degree-4, and a node can be upgraded in service from Degree-2. It works on the ITU 100-GHz channel plan across 40 channels in the C band.
Cisco gives maximum insertion loss at minimum VOA as 6.0 dB for EXPi1-RX to LINE-TX and for ADD-RX to LINE-TX. The OSC filter adds 1.8 dB from LINE-RX to OSC-TX and 1.3 dB from OSC-RX to LINE-TX. The EXP ports use MPO connectors, and every other port uses LC.
Card power draw is 35 W typical and 70 W maximum. The boost amplifier gives a gain range of 13 to 26 dB with a maximum output of 17.5 dBm, and maximum input power is 27 dBm. The card fills one slot and is supported in shelf slots 1 to 6 and 12 to 17.
Cisco also lists the 15454-40-SMR1-C, which uses a 2x1 core for Degree-2 nodes and has no boost amplifier.
