3572-S4H is the IBM TS2900 Tape Autoloader with one LTO Ultrium 4 half-high SAS tape drive, carrying the HVEC number 3572S4R. It is a 1U slim-profile unit that ships as a rack-mount autoloader with an optional desktop conversion kit, and it carries a bar-code reader and a web interface for remote management as standard.
The magazine holds nine cartridges, and a single I/O station lets cartridges be inserted or removed without interrupting the library. With LTO-4 media, a cartridge holds 800 GB native (up to 1.6 TB compressed), and the autoloader holds 7.2 TB native (up to 14.4 TB compressed). The LTO-4 drive transfers up to 120 MBps native, and attachment is 6 Gbps SAS through two Mini-SAS (SFF-8088) connectors.
LTO Ultrium 4 drive technology adds WORM support and Application Managed Encryption; library-managed and system-managed encryption come with the optional Transparent LTO Encryption feature 5900 (part 45E3797) and IBM Security Key Lifecycle Manager. The autoloader is 17.6 in wide, 1.7 in high and 33.3 in deep, and weighs 28.66 lb without drive and cartridge.
The box includes the autoloader, a rack mount kit or deskside cover, a SAS wrap tool, one removable nine-cartridge magazine, a power cord and one universal cleaning cartridge. Later-generation autoloaders in the same line are the 3572-S5H LTO-5 and the 3572-S6H LTO-6.
