3573-8447 is the IBM LTO Ultrium 7 half-high tape drive with a 6 Gbps SAS interface, feature code 8447, for the IBM TS3100 and TS3200 tape libraries. The libraries themselves are the driveless models 3573-L2U and 3573-L4U, so the drives are separate parts.
A TS3100 takes one full-high drive or up to two half-high drives and holds 24 cartridges. A TS3200 takes up to two full-high drives or up to four half-high drives and holds 48 cartridges. With LTO-7 media, library capacity is 144 TB native in the TS3100 and 288 TB native in the TS3200.
The LTO-7 drive transfers up to 300 MBps native. A cartridge holds 6.0 TB native, or 15.0 TB at 2.5:1 compression. The drive reads and writes LTO-7 and LTO-6 cartridges and reads LTO-5. WORM media and application-managed encryption are available with LTO-7; library-managed and system-managed encryption need the optional Transparent LTO Encryption feature 5900 together with IBM Security Key Lifecycle Manager. IBM Spectrum Archive Library Edition covers LTO-7 drives for LTFS access to cartridges.
SAS cabling options for the library include a 2 m SAS/Mini-SAS cable (feature 5402) and a 2 m Mini-SAS/Mini-SAS cable (feature 5502). The libraries that take this drive are the 3573-L2U TS3100 and the 3573-L4U TS3200.
