The longest QSFP+ to QSFP+ active optical cable in the HPE BladeSystem c-Class 40G range, at 15 m (49.21 ft). Active QSFP+ transceivers are permanently attached at both ends, so no separate optics are needed for a 40GbE link.
The Virtual Connect FlexFabric-20/40 F8 module for c-Class BladeSystem supports it as its QSFP+ active optical cable option, which covers uplinks that run beyond the 5 m limit of passive copper on that module.
With both transceivers fitted it weighs 0.57 lb. Each end draws up to 1.5 W. The cable is 3 mm in diameter with a 25 mm minimum bend radius, and because the link is optical its construction is non-conductive. Crosstalk between pairs is 26 dB at most, delay is 1.57 nsec per foot and the bit error rate ceiling is 10-15.
It operates at 0 to 70 C and 0% to 85% non-condensing humidity; storage runs from -40 to 85 C, with altitude up to 10,000 ft (3 km). The spare number for this cable is 746968-001. Other cables are listed in HPE Misc.
