This active optical splitter has one QSFP+ transceiver on one end and four SFP+ transceivers on the other, spanning 7 m (22.97 ft) of fibre. It fans a 40GbE port out to four 10GbE links in HPE BladeSystem c-Class environments, and reaches farther than the passive copper splitters of the same range. A fully fitted cable weighs 0.56 lb (0.25 kg). The QSFP+ end draws 1.5 W at most and each SFP+ end 0.35 W.
Handling limits: the QSFP+ side of the cable is 3.4 mm in diameter with a 25 mm minimum bend radius, and the SFP+ legs are 3 mm with a 30 mm minimum bend radius.
Signal properties are 26 dB maximum crosstalk between pairs, 1.475 nsec per foot of delay and a bit error rate of 10E-15 at worst; the construction is non-conductive.
It operates from 0 to 70 C at 5% to 85% non-condensing humidity, stores between -40 and 85 C at the same humidity range, and is rated for altitude up to 10,000 ft (3 km). HPE's spare number for this cable is 746972-001. Further cables are available from HPE Misc.
