A 40Gb QSFP+ transceiver for HPE BladeSystem c-Class hardware, filed with the HPE misc options. It follows the IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-SR4 standard and carries 40-Gigabit traffic over multimode fiber as four 10-Gigabit lanes through a single MPO port.
Its reach is up to 300 m on OM3 fiber and up to 400 m on OM4, using 850 nm light. The fiber connection is specified for Ultra Physical Contact polish; angled physical contact termination is not specified for this module.
The module draws at most 1.5 W from a 3.3 V supply, weighs about 35 g and measures 13.18 x 1.835 x 1.371 cm. It operates from 0 to 70 degrees C at 0 to 85 percent non-condensing humidity and can be stored between -40 and 85 degrees C.
The 100 m c-Class SR4 transceiver in the same series uses the same 850 nm optics and MPO connector, but its reach is 100 m on OM3 and 150 m on OM4, a third of the OM3 distance of this 300 m module.
