ASR-9901 is the Cisco ASR 9901, a compact high-capacity provider edge router in a two-rack-unit chassis. It has 42 integrated ports: 16 x 1GE, 24 dual-rate 1/10GE and 2 x 100GE. Pluggable optics can mix 1, 10, 40 and 100 GbE. Cisco gives the fabric 456 Gbps of nonblocking, full-duplex capacity.
The route switch processor is integrated into the chassis, so there is no separate route processor or line card to fit. It has a 4-core 2.4 GHz Intel CPU and 32 GB of RAM, and the router runs the same 64-bit Cisco IOS XR image as the other ASR 9000 routers.
Power comes from redundant A9K-1600W-AC or A9K-1600W-DC supplies. AC input is 90 to 265 V at 50 to 60 Hz and DC input is -40 to -72 V. Typical consumption is 850 W and maximum is 1,100 W. Airflow is front to back, and a fully configured chassis carries three ASR-9901-FAN trays.
The chassis measures 3.43 in (8.7 cm) high, 17.32 in (44 cm) wide and 23.62 in (60 cm) deep. It weighs 47.62 lb (21.6 kg) empty and 55.97 lb (25.4 kg) fully configured with two power modules and three fan trays. Nominal operating temperature is 5 to 40 C, with operating altitude up to 4,000 m.
