Cisco gives the family eight integrated Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports on copper, one console port that is Micro-USB or RJ-45, and one Type A USB 3.0 port. Optional PoE and PoE+ covers four PoE ports or two PoE+ ports out of the eight LAN ports, and it needs a 150 W external power supply; PoE output voltage is -53.5 VDC.
For the C111x-8P, Cisco lists 4 GB of DRAM and 4 GB of flash. The platform runs Cisco IOS XE from 16.9.1, and the default licence is IP Base, with Application Experience, Security and Unified Communications licences optional.
Maximum power consumption is 35.3 W for the C111x-8P, and the external supply takes 100 to 240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz and delivers 12 VDC at up to 66 W. The router measures 1.75 x 12.70 x 9.015 in and weighs 4.37 lb (1.98 kg). Operating range is 0 to 40 C at sea level, derated 1 C per 1,000 ft above 40 C, at 10 to 85 percent non-condensing humidity.
Cisco's throughput figures for the C111x-8P are up to 1,800 Mbps of IPv4 forwarding in autonomous mode (512 byte packets) and up to 600 Mbps of IPsec, with 280K IPv4 routes, 100K NAT sessions and 1K VRFs. In SD-WAN mode it is rated at up to 650 Mbps of IPsec with 200 overlay tunnels.
More routers are in Cisco routers, including the Cisco 891F and the Catalyst 8200L edge platform.
