The IE-3100-8T2C-E is a compact fixed DIN-rail switch in Cisco's Catalyst IE3100 Rugged Series, built for industrial and extended-enterprise sites with limited space. Cisco describes it as eight Gigabit Ethernet copper ports and two Gigabit combo uplinks, with the Network Essentials licence. Each combo uplink can be used as either an RJ-45 copper port or an SFP port.
It forwards 14.88 Mpps over 10 Gbps of forwarding bandwidth. Hardware includes 4 GB of DRAM, an optional SD card slot (no card ships by default), two dry-contact alarm inputs, and RJ-45 and micro-USB console ports. Power is from dual DC inputs rated 12 to 48 V nominal (9.6 to 60 V absolute), with 17.7 W typical consumption. The unit measures 5.00 x 3.00 x 4.33 in and weighs 1.9 lb, and Cisco lists an MTBF of 854,560 hours. Operating temperature depends on the enclosure: -40 to 75°C in a blower-equipped cabinet, -40 to 70°C vented and -40 to 60°C sealed.
Siblings: the IE-3100-4T2S-E has four copper ports and two SFP uplinks, the IE-3100-8T4S-E has four SFP uplinks, and the IE-3100-8P2C-E adds PoE. The IE-3105-8T2C-E shares its port layout and forwarding rate.
There is no AC input, so plan for a DIN-rail DC supply.
