IBM feature #EL3Q is a 32 GB CDIMM with 1600 MHz DDR3 DRAM, CCIN 31E9, FRU 00VK194, for the Linux-only IBM Power S812L (8247-21L) and Power S822L (8247-22L). It sits in the DDR3 memory family of these servers between the 16 GB #EL3P and the 64 GB #EL3R, and the same machines also take the DDR4 modules #EM96, #EM97 and #EM98.
One #EL3Q equals one physical CDIMM. Memory must be ordered in pairs and installed in pairs, with the two CDIMMs of a pair at the same capacity. The Power S822L requires 32 GB at minimum, supplied by default as two 16 GB DDR3 modules (#EL3P), and it accepts a maximum of 16 of #EL3Q. The S812L requires 16 GB at minimum and reaches 512 GB at most, using eight 64 GB CDIMMs, while the S822L reaches 1024 GB with sixteen of them.
Because the DDR4 modules run at DDR3 speed on these servers, a 32 GB #EL3Q and a 32 GB #EM97 both have a 1600 MHz access rate.
