Feature code BYLR (option 4XB7A90873) is the ThinkSystem 2.5-inch Vendor Agnostic (VA) 480GB Read Intensive SATA 6Gb hot-swap SSD v2. Lenovo describes VA drives as non-vendor-specific SSDs drawn from multiple makers, with an average endurance of one drive write per day.
For the 480GB size Lenovo Press gives 876 TB total bytes written, 71,000 read and 15,000 write IOPS (4 KB), 480 MBps sequential read and 320 MBps sequential write, an MTBF of 2 million hours and fewer than 1 in 10^17 bits read as unrecoverable errors. This v2 drive is not self-encrypting.
Lenovo lists it for a wide range of servers, including the SR630 V2, SR650 V2, SR630 V3, SR650 V3, SR645 V3, SR665 V3, SR630 V4, SR650 V4, ST250 V3, SR250 V3, SE450 and SE455 V3. Larger VA SATA drives in the family are the 960GB 4XB7A90874 (BYLS) and the 1.92TB 4XB7A90875 (BYLT), and there is a 240GB 4XB7A90872 (BYLQ). The 960GB and larger sizes write faster, at 460 MBps.
Lenovo cautions that not all VA vendor variants are VMware vSAN or Microsoft S2D certified, and points such builds to ThinkAgile systems. For a boot or general-purpose drive, confirm the server is on Lenovo's list and has a 2.5-inch SAS/SATA hot-swap bay.
