Lenovo's ThinkSystem 2.5-inch VA 1.92TB Read Intensive SATA 6Gb hot-swap SSD v2 carries feature code BYLT (option 4XB7A90875). VA stands for Vendor Agnostic: Lenovo sources these drives from more than one maker and rates them for one drive write per day.
Lenovo Press gives the 1.92TB drive 3,504 TB total bytes written, 82,000 random read and 28,000 random write IOPS (4 KB), 480 MBps sequential read and 460 MBps sequential write, and an MTBF of 2 million hours. The v2 drive has no self-encryption; Lenovo lists separate SED versions of the VA SATA drives.
Lenovo lists it for servers from the V2 to the V4 generation, including the SR630 V2, SR650 V2, SR670 V2, SR630 V3, SR650 V3, SR635 V3, SR655 V3, SR645 V3, SR665 V3, SR850 V3, SR630 V4, SR650 V4, SR850 V4 and the SE450 and SE455 V3 edge servers. Smaller VA SATA SSDs in the family are 4XB7A90873 (480GB, BYLR) and 4XB7A90874 (960GB, BYLS); larger ones reach 3.84TB and 7.68TB. A Mixed Use VA SATA drive of the same size, 4XB7A90886 (BYM5), carries 4 DWPD for write-heavy work.
Lenovo cautions that not every VA vendor variant is certified for VMware vSAN or Microsoft S2D. To confirm fit, check the server against Lenovo's list and use a 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS/SATA bay.
