ST20000NM002D is the standard 20TB model of the Seagate Exos X20 SAS family. It is a helium-filled 3.5-inch drive with 512E formatting (512, 520 or 528 byte blocks), and T10 Fast Format can convert it to 4KN.
Twenty heads work at an areal density of 1146 Gb/in2 with an internal data rate of up to 2899 Mb/s. Sustained transfer runs from 133 to 272 MiB/s, the spindle turns at 7200 RPM with 4.16 ms average latency, and the buffer is 256MB.
The dual-port SAS interface supports 3.0, 6.0 and 12.0 Gb, with 1200MB/s per port and 2400MB/s across both. Support for SAS expanders, up to 32 initiators, a 128-deep task set, Power Balance and SAS Power Disable is included. The drive weighs 680 g (1.499 lb).
The annualized failure rate is 0.35% with an MTBF of 2,500,000 hours, the workload ceiling is under 550TB per year, and the load-unload rating is 600,000 cycles. Related models: ST20000NM003D (self-encrypting), ST20000NM005D (FIPS 140-3) and the 18TB standard ST18000NM000D.
