4XB7B09971 (feature code CBVA) is the ThinkSystem 2.5-inch VA 7.68TB Read Intensive SATA 6Gb hot-swap SSD with SED. VA stands for Vendor Agnostic: the drive is sourced from more than one SSD vendor, and this model is the self-encrypting variant, using TCG Opal or TCG Enterprise. It is a 6 Gbps SATA drive, 7 mm tall, 70 mm wide and 100 mm deep without its tray.
At 7.68TB endurance is 0.6 drive writes per day over five years, or 8410 TB written, while the 480GB to 3.84TB drives in the family carry 1 DWPD. Minimum performance is 77,000 random read IOPS and 9,500 random write IOPS at 4 KB, with 480 MBps sequential reads and 460 MBps sequential writes at 128 KB. Data reliability is better than one unrecoverable bit error per 10^17 bits read, and MTBF is 2,000,000 hours.
Power-loss protection, an advanced ECC engine with end-to-end data protection and S.M.A.R.T. monitoring are built in, and non-operating shock tolerance is 1,500 G for 0.5 ms.
ThinkSystem servers that take the drive include the SR630 V3, SR650 V3, SR635 V3, SR645 V3, SR655 V3, SR665 V3, SR675 V3, SR850 V3, SR860 V3, SD535 V3, ST650 V3, ST250 V3, SR250 V3, SE455 V3 and the V4 models SR630, SR650, SR650a, SR850 and SR860.
The same self-encrypting range continues with 4XB7B09970 (3.84TB, CBVB), 4XB7B09969 (1.92TB, CBVC), 4XB7B09968 (960GB, CBVD) and 4XB7B09967 (480GB, CBVE). The 7.68TB drive without SED is the v2 drive 4XB7A90877 (BYLV).
