Lenovo ThinkSystem 2.5″ PM1655 6.4TB Mixed Use SAS 24Gb HS SSD

4XB7A80343 (feature code BP3K) is the ThinkSystem 2.5" PM1655 6.4TB Mixed Use SAS 24Gb HS SSD, a Samsung PM1655 drive with the vendor part number MZILG6T4HBLA-V7. It uses Samsung sixth-generation 128-layer V-NAND TLC flash, comes in a 2.5-inch hot-swap tray and complies with the TCG Enterprise security standard.

Endurance is 3 drive writes per day for five years, or 35,040 TB written. On a 24 Gb/s single-port link it reaches 420,000 random read IOPS at 4 KB, with 2100 MBps sequential reads and 2000 MBps sequential writes at 128 KB; random read latency is 130 µs and random write latency is 45 µs. On a 12 Gb/s link the figures are 240,000 read IOPS and 1100 MBps both ways. Typical power is 11.5 W reading and 14.7 W writing.

The SAS interface runs at 24 Gb/s only when the drive, the backplane and the SAS controller all support that speed. The drive supports 16 initiators with tagged command queuing to a depth of 128 commands and complies with the SAS-3, SPL-3, SBC-4, SPC-4 and SAM-5 specifications. Without its tray it is 15 mm high, 70 mm wide and 100 mm deep, and it weighs 160 g.

The drive works with ThinkSystem SAS/SATA adapters except the RAID 730-8i 1GB Cache (7Y37A01083) and RAID 730-8i 2GB Flash (4Y37A09722). Servers that support it include the SR630 V2, SR650 V2, SR670 V2, ST650 V2, SR635, SR655, SR850 V2, SR860 V2 and SR950. The 3.5-inch 6.4TB version is 4XB7A80347 (BP3G), and the 2.5-inch 3.2TB drive is 4XB7A80342 (BNW6).
