IBM feature #8446 is a half-high LTO Ultrium 7 Fibre Channel tape drive for the IBM System Storage 7226 Model 1U3 Multi-Media Enclosure, machine type 7226. Native capacity is up to 6 TB, or 15 TB with 2.5:1 compression, and the data rate is up to 300 MB/second with compression.
The drive reads and writes Ultrium 7 and Ultrium 6 media formats and reads Ultrium 5 media formats. The feature includes a diagnostic test cartridge, a cleaning cartridge, a half-high drive latch, a Fibre Channel interface assembly and an external Fibre Channel cable.
The enclosure needs at least one drive feature and takes at most two, in any combination of feature numbers 1420, 5762, 5763, 5619, 8241, 8248, 8348, 8341, 8441, 8446, 8541, 8546, 8641, 8646, EU03 and EU16. #8446 has no prerequisites, no corequisites and no compatibility conflicts.
When feature ADNR, ACY1 or ACW4 is on the order, the maximum quantity is 99 and the prerequisite features do not apply. Customer setup is yes, and the drive is installable at the plant or in the field.
