IBM #8641 HHLTO9 SAS Tape Drive for 7226

IBM #8641 is the half-high LTO Ultrium 9 feature for the IBM System Storage 7226 Model 1U3 Multi-Media Enclosure. It is a high-performance SAS tape drive with a native capacity of up to 18 TB, or 45 TB with 2.5:1 compression, and a data rate of up to 300 MB per second without compression.

The LTO Ultrium 9 drive has read-write compatibility with the Ultrium 8 media format. It is not read or write compatible with other Ultrium media formats. The half-high drive feature includes a diagnostic test cartridge, a cleaning cartridge, a half-high drive latch and a SAS interface assembly.

One no-charge external SAS cable, feature #9850 or #9851, must be specified for attaching the drive to the system host bus adapter. Feature #9850 is a Mini-SAS HD to Mini-SAS cable for Mini-SAS host system adapters, and #9851 is a Mini-SAS HD to Mini-SAS HD cable for Mini-SAS HD host system adapters. The no-charge cable is included for initial plant orders only. MES installations must specify one of three external SAS cables: #AGKB, a Mini-SAS HD to Mini-SAS HD 1X cable for SAS HD host system adapters; #AGKC, the 2X version of that cable; or #5507, a Mini-SAS HD to Mini-SAS 1X cable for SAS HD host system adapters.

At least one drive feature is required, and at most two, in any combination of the feature numbers #1420, #5762, #5763, #5619, #8241, #8248, #8348, #8341, #8441, #8446, #8541, #8546, #8641, #8646, #EU03 and #EU16. When feature #ADNR, #ACY1 or #ACW4 is present on the order, the maximum quantity allowed is 99 and the prerequisite features are not applicable.

The feature has no prerequisites and no compatibility conflicts. The customer can set it up, and it can be installed at the plant or in the field.
