IBM feature #EM92 is a 32 GB CDIMM with 1600 MHz DDR4 DRAM, CCIN 31ED, FRU 00VK296. It is a memory option for the IBM Power S824L (8247-42L) and for the Power S814 (8286-41A) and Power S824 (8286-42A). Each feature code equates to one physical CDIMM, and memory upgrades are made in pairs of CDIMMs.
The DDR4 features EM91, EM92, EM93 and EM94 run at DDR3 speed on these servers, so the 32 GB module has a 1600 MHz access rate like the DDR3 sizes. The Power S824L needs at least 32 GB of memory, with a base of two 16 GB DDR3 modules (#EM8B), and accepts up to 16 of #EM92. The S824 also needs a 32 GB minimum, and its base memory is the same pair of #EM8B modules.
A CDIMM on the S814 and S824 combines industry-standard DRAM chips with a memory scheduler, memory management logic and a 16 MB buffer cache built as L4 cache; the 32 GB size has 80 DRAM chips. Companion DDR4 sizes are 16 GB (#EM91), 64 GB (#EM93) and 128 GB (#EM94).
