Cisco's Catalyst 9300L fixed-uplink switches do not ship ready to stack; stacking is an option added with this kit. The data sheet describes it as a stack kit for C9300L SKUs only, made up of two data stack adapters and one data stack cable, with the 50 cm STACK-T3-50CM as the default cable. Longer STACK-T3-1M and 3 m cables are available as options.
Installed, it gives C9300L switches StackWise-320, a 320 Gbps stack bandwidth, with up to 8 switches per stack. A 9300L stack combines only with other Catalyst 9300L and 9300LM models running the same licence level. Cisco states that fixed-uplink C9300L models cannot stack with modular-uplink C9300 or C9300X models, which use StackWise-480 and STACK-T1 cables, or with Catalyst 3850 and 3650 switches.
The C9300L-STACK-KIT2 covers both C9300L and C9300LM models and uses STACK-T3A cables, while the C9300LM models are listed only with KIT2. For a stack made only of C9300L switches either kit is listed; if a C9300LM is in or may join the stack, KIT2 is the one Cisco lists for it. STACK-T1 cables for the modular 9300 do not fit the 9300L adapters.
When buying used, check that both adapters and the cable are present, and confirm the cable part number (STACK-T3 for this kit) matches the adapters already installed in the stack.
