PER7525 follows the per code pattern Dell uses for the PowerEdge R7525, a 2U two-socket rack server for AMD EPYC 2nd and 3rd Generation processors. Dell lists up to 64 cores per socket, up to 3.8 GHz and a maximum TDP of 280 W, with the two sockets linked by AMD's xGMI-2 interconnect.
Memory runs across 32 DDR4 DIMM slots, eight channels per socket at two DIMMs per channel, taking RDIMM, LRDIMM and 3DS modules at up to 3200 MT/s depending on configuration. Front storage options are 8, 16 or 24 x 2.5-inch bays or 8 or 12 x 3.5-inch bays, with the 24-bay chassis taking SAS, SATA or NVMe drives, and two rear 2.5-inch bays are optional. Dell lists the H755, H755N, H745, H345, H840, HBA345, HBA355 and HBA355E controllers plus S150 software RAID, and BOSS-S2 for boot.
Expansion is up to eight PCIe Gen4 slots plus an OCP 3.0 slot, with a 2 x 1 GbE LOM. The chassis takes up to three double-width 300 W GPUs or six single-width 75 W cards. Power supplies range from 800 W to 2400 W Platinum mixed-mode units, plus 1100 W Titanium and 1100 W -48 V DC options, and an optional liquid cooling kit with leak detection.
Dell's guide compares it with the earlier PowerEdge R7425, which used first-generation EPYC (Naples) processors. When buying a used R7525, confirm the drive-bay layout, controller, PSU wattage and whether the processors are 2nd or 3rd Gen EPYC, since these decide drive, GPU and memory options.
