PER660 is the code used for the Dell PowerEdge R660, the 16th-generation 1U two-socket rack server that follows the R650. Dell's R660 technical guide lists two 4th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (Socket E) and 32 DDR5 RDIMM slots running at 4800 MT/s with one DIMM per channel or 4400 MT/s with two, up to 8 TB. Supported DIMMs run from 16 GB 1Rx8 to 256 GB 8Rx4, all at 1.1 V.

Front storage comes as up to 8 x 2.5-inch NVMe or up to 10 x 2.5-inch SAS/SATA/NVMe, with an optional 2 x 2.5-inch rear bay. Unlike the R650, it has no 3.5-inch front option. Controllers are the PERC H965i, H755, H755N and H355, the HBA355i internal and HBA355e external HBAs, S160 software RAID and the BOSS-N1 boot module. The R660 adds PCIe Gen5: up to three slots, two of them Gen5, against three Gen4 slots on the R650. Networking uses an optional 2 x 1 GbE LOM card and an OCP 3.0 card at PCIe Gen4.

Power supplies are hot-swap and fully redundant, from 700 W Titanium to 1800 W Titanium, plus 800 W and 1400 W Platinum and an 1100 W -48 to -60 VDC unit. The chassis is 42.8 mm high and 822.88 mm deep with bezel, about 50 mm deeper than the R650, which can matter in short racks.

When buying, confirm the drive-bay layout and the DDR5 DIMM population, since DDR4 modules from an R650 will not fit.
