J9151D is the D revision of HPE's 10G SFP+ LC LR 10km single-mode transceiver; HPE QuickSpecs list it as the SKU that J9151E replaced.
The change is recorded on 04-Mar-2019 in the version histories of the 2930F and 2930M QuickSpecs (version 11), the CX 8400 QuickSpecs (version 11, which adds that obsolete SKUs were removed) and the 5400R zl2 QuickSpecs (version 25).
Since then those documents name only the E revision in their configuration rules, so platform lists for this LR optic now point to the newer number.
Where the replacement is listed, it sits in the SFP+ tables of the 2930F, 2930M, CX 6300, CX 8400 and 5400R zl2 series, and on the 2930M it installs in the JL083A 4-port SFP+ MACsec uplink module.
HPE's 2930F notes add a temperature limitation for the E revision on the JL693A 12G PoE+ 2G/2SFP+ model.
The same tables give the other 10G reaches: SR at 300 m over OM3 multimode (J9150D), LRM at 220 m over OM2 (J9152D) and ER at 40 km over single-mode (J9153D).
Fit check: an SFP+ port, LC connectors and single-mode fibre within 10 km. The currently listed revision is the J9151E; the multimode SR option is the J9150D. Check the HPE Aruba and ProCurve switch hub for alternatives.
