The J9311A is the HP 3500-48G-PoE+ yl Switch: 44 autosensing 10/100/1000 ports plus four dual-personality ports (RJ-45 with PoE, or mini-GBIC), and one open module slot for up to four 10-GbE ports. HP's specification lists a 398 W PoE budget, 638 W maximum power, 132 W idle power and 1,144 BTU/hr maximum heat.
HP rates switching capacity at 149.8 Gb/s (153.6 Gb/s fabric) and throughput at up to 111.5 Mpps, with 64,000 MAC entries and 10,000 IPv4 routes. It is a 1U rack unit, 4.4 x 44.3 x 43.0 cm and 7.05 kg.
HP's December 2013 end-of-sale notice names the J9311A as the replacement for the J8693A 3500-48G-PoE yl and for the J9472A and J9473A 3500-48 models. The 24-port sibling is the J9310A.
