ASR-920-24SZ-M is the Cisco ASR 920 Series aggregation services router with 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports and four 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports and a modular power supply. It is a 1RU chassis measuring 1.72 x 17.5 x 10 in (43.7 x 444.5 x 255 mm), and the platform runs Cisco IOS XE with licensing that activates additional 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit interfaces as needed.
Cisco gives the empty chassis weight as 8.5 lb (3.9 kg) and 10.5 lb (4.8 kg) with two AC power supplies. The power supplies are AC or DC: AC input is 85 to 264 V AC (nominal 100 to 240 V AC) at 47 to 63 Hz, and DC input is -18 to -32 VDC or -36 to -72 VDC. Maximum power draw is 145 W and typical draw is 110 W, with front-to-back airflow.
The operating range is -40 to 70 C up to 1,000 ft, -40 to 65 C up to 6,000 ft and -40 to 55 C up to 13,000 ft, at 5 to 95 percent non-condensing humidity. Cisco rates the MTBF at 546,260 hours.
Against the ASR-920-24TZ-M, the same 1RU size with a 130 W maximum draw and a 582,610 hour MTBF, the 24SZ-M draws 15 W more at maximum load. Against the ASR-920-24SZ-IM, which is 1.5RU, takes interface modules and draws up to 180 W, the 24SZ-M is the smaller, lighter chassis. Cisco also lists the 24SZ-M in its ASR-920-24SZ-M-BB small bandwidth capacity bundle.
