BR-6510-48-16G and BR-6510-48-16G-R are the 48-port Brocade 6510 Fibre Channel SAN switch with 16Gb SWL SFPs. Broadcom describes the -R part as the 6510 with 48 ports, 16Gb SWL SFPs, AC power, the enterprise bundle and port-side exhaust airflow, and it names BR-G620-48-32G-R as its recommended alternative.
Broadcom classes the 6510 as a mid-size Gen 5 switch offered in 24, 36 and 48 port configurations. It supports 2, 4, 8, 10 and 16G port speeds, with 768 Gb/s of total bandwidth and 128 Gb/s of ISL trunking bandwidth. It has dual hot-swappable power supplies, front-to-back and back-to-front airflow options, and efficiency of 0.14 watts per Gb/s. 10G native Fibre Channel, forward error correction, D_Port diagnostics and in-flight compression at 32 Gb/s are supported, and it has no QSFP ports.
The 1U chassis is 437.64 mm wide, 43.18 mm high and 443.23 mm deep, and weighs 9.16 kg with two power FRUs and no transceivers. Local switching latency is 700 ns. The AC inputs run 85 to 264 V at 47 to 63 Hz, drawing 110 W with all 48 ports using 16G SWL optics and 72 W as an empty chassis. Heat output is 375 BTU/hr with 48 ports.
Broadcom began end of life for the 6510 on December 17, 2019. The last time order date was April 17, 2020 and the last customer ship date was June 17, 2020. End of support is June 17, 2025. The fixed rack mount kit for the 6510 is XBR-R000291.
