BR-5140-0008 is the Brocade 5140 Fibre Channel switch in its fully equipped shipping configuration: 40 ports enabled with Full Fabric functionality, two power supplies, 8Gbps short wavelength SFPs and Enterprise Group Management (EGM) included. The same end-of-life notice covers the Brocade 5120, a 24-port model sold as BR-5120-0008.
The same 40-port switch was also ordered under other numbers, so the suffix is worth matching. BR-5140-1008 has the Enterprise Feature Bundle where BR-5140-0008 has EGM, and XBR-5140-0000 is the 5140 with 40 ports enabled and two power supplies but no SFPs. BR-5140-0008-M carries the same 40-port, EGM configuration as BR-5140-0008.
Brocade began the end-of-life process for the 5100 on September 14, 2012, and revised the announcement on August 27, 2013. The final non-cancelable order date was April 15, 2013 and the last customer ship date was January 25, 2014. End of support was set for January 25, 2019. For BR-5140-0008 Brocade named BR-6510-48-16G as the recommended replacement.
