Dell PowerEdge C6525 AMD EPYC Server Node for the 2U C6400 Chassis (C6525)

The C6525 is the Dell PowerEdge C6525, a 1U half-width two-socket server sled for the 2U PowerEdge C6400 chassis, which holds up to four nodes for high-performance computing and hyperscale workloads. Each node uses 2nd or 3rd Generation AMD EPYC processors with up to 64 cores and 128 threads, a single-socket node taking up to 225 W and a dual-socket node up to 280 W per processor. Mismatched processor models are not allowed in a two-socket node.

A node has 16 DDR4 slots (eight channels per socket, one DIMM per channel; a single-socket node uses up to eight). RDIMMs of 8, 16, 32 or 64 GB run at up to 3200 MT/s, and 128 GB LRDIMMs run at 2666 MT/s.

The chassis offers a 24 x 2.5-inch direct SAS/SATA backplane, a 24 x 2.5-inch NVMe backplane, a 12 x 3.5-inch SAS/SATA backplane, or no backplane. Each node gets up to six drives with the 2.5-inch layouts and up to three with the 3.5-inch layout, and in the NVMe layout two of a node's drives can be NVMe at Gen3 speed. Controllers are PERC H745, H345, HBA345 and HBA355i, with chipset SATA or software RAID also possible. Boot options are a microSD slot on riser 1A and an M.2 SATA riser or BOSS S1V5 card.

Each node has PCIe Gen4 risers 1A and 2A at x16, an OCP 3.0 SFF mezzanine slot at Gen4 x16 and the M.2 SATA riser. The rear carries a Broadcom BCM5720 gigabit controller on a shared iDRAC/NIC RJ45 port, an iDRAC Direct micro USB port, a mini DisplayPort and one USB 3.0 port. Management is iDRAC9 Enterprise with Lifecycle Controller 3.0, and a TPM 2.0 module is available.

Chassis power supplies are 1600 W, 2000 W, 2400 W or 2600 W Platinum units at 100-240 V, and four 60 mm dual-rotor fans cool the chassis without hot-plug redundancy. The C6400 chassis is 86.8 mm high and 448 mm wide. Maximum weight is 45.53 kg with 3.5-inch drives, 41.5 kg with 2.5-inch drives and 35.15 kg with no backplane.
