A9K-8HG-FLEX-SE is the ASR 9000 800G Service Edge Combo Line Card from the fifth generation, bought under the traditional business model. It has eight ports: six QSFP28 ports for 10, 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet and two QSFP-DD ports that also run 200 and 400 Gigabit Ethernet. Total capacity is 0.8 Tbps, so the ports can run as eight 100G, two 200G or two 400G, or any mix that stays within 0.8T.
Line-rate throughput is 100 Gbps per QSFP28 port and 400 Gbps per QSFP-DD port. Two of the eight ports can be raised to 400 Gigabit Ethernet through a per-port licence. The SE variant is designed for deployments that need enhanced service scale, and unused slices can be placed in power-saving mode.
Traditional-model licences for this card are S-A9K-8HG-IVRF (activates up to 8 VRFs for 800G), S-A9K-8HG-AIP-SE (full-scale VRFs) and S-A9K-8HG-CGN (in-line CGv6 translation). The Flexible Consumption version of the card is A9K-8HG-FLEX-FC.
The card works in ASR 9006, 9010, 9904, 9906, 9910, 9912 and 9922 chassis, although the fabric cards, RP/RSP card and cooling may need a hardware update. It requires Cisco IOS XR Software Release 7.1.15 or later.
