NIM-ES2-8-P is a Cisco 8-port PoE/PoE+ Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet LAN switch network interface module for 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers. It has eight 10/100/1000BASE-TX RJ-45 ports with line-rate Layer 2 forwarding on every port, and it connects to the router over the internal multigigabit fabric.
Both IEEE 802.3af PoE and 802.3at PoE+ are supported, with up to 30 W per port, and the module can power all eight ports. The number of 30 W ports the router can feed in normal mode depends on the platform: 3 on the Cisco 4321, 8 on the 4331, 16 on the 4351, 8 on the 4431 and 16 on the 4451. Platform PoE output in normal mode with a single supply is 250 W on the 4331 and 4431 and 500 W on the 4351 and 4451. The Cisco 4321 and 4331 each take 2 of these modules, and the 4351, 4431 and 4451 each take 3.
Features include IEEE 802.1Q trunking, 802.1D spanning tree, 802.1X, IGMP snooping, auxiliary VLANs and voice VLAN, per-port PoE monitoring and policing, and four QoS queues per port. The module supports up to 60 VLANs out of 4094 VLAN IDs. PoE is not available with DC system power input. It is single-wide, measures 0.8 x 6.2 x 4.8 in (2.1 x 18.8 x 12.2 cm), weighs 149 g (0.33 lb) and operates at 32 to 104 F (0 to 40 C).
