GLC-FE-100FX is a Cisco 100BASE-FX small form-factor pluggable module for Fast Ethernet SFP ports. It operates at 1300 nm over multimode fiber (MMF) link spans of up to 2 km (6,562 ft) and connects through a dual LC connector. The module is hot-swappable and interchangeable with other 100BASE-X SFPs in the same line card or switch.
Transmit power is between -20 dBm and -14 dBm, and receive power is between -31 dBm and -14 dBm. Power draw is up to 1 W per port, the laser is Class 1, and the module is built to IEEE 802.3u. Cisco applies the extended temperature range to this module: -5 to 85 C (23 to 185 F) in operation, and -40 to 85 C (-40 to 185 F) in storage.
100BASE-FX is a Fast Ethernet optical interface, so the module goes into SFP ports that run at Fast Ethernet speed or into dual-rate Fast and Gigabit Ethernet ports, not into ports that only support 1G and above. Platform support is set per switch or router through the Cisco 100M Ethernet SFP compatibility matrix.
