IBM feature #AC8E is a 1.6 TB 2.5-inch flash drive for the IBM Storwize V5030F all-flash array, machine type 2077, in the control enclosure Model AF3 and the expansion enclosure Model AFF. The same drive size is feature #AC9E on the 2078 machine type, which also covers models AF3 and AFF.
The Storwize V5030F is designed to support 2.5-inch SFF flash drives of 400 GB, 800 GB, 1.6 TB and 3.2 TB, and also 1.92 TB and 3.84 TB. All drives are dual-port and hot-swappable, and drives can be intermixed within an enclosure. The control enclosure and the SFF expansion enclosure each provide twenty-four slots for 2.5-inch SAS flash drives, and the AFF expansion enclosure is a 2U 19-inch rack-mount unit with two expansion canisters and four 12 Gb SAS ports, two per canister, for attachment to a V5030F control enclosure or another expansion enclosure.
A Storwize V5030F system scales to 504 drives with the attachment of 20 second-generation expansion enclosures, and with two-way system clustering the maximum size rises to 1,008 drives. The flash drives work with RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 and Distributed RAID, and with RAID rebuild using global hot spares.
