ISR4221-SEC/K9 is the Cisco ISR 4221 SEC bundle: the ISR 4221 router together with the SEC licence. The plain router in the same family is ISR4221/K9, described by Cisco as 2GE, 2NIM, 8G flash, 4G DRAM and IP Base.
Cisco rates the ISR 4221 at 35 Mbps aggregate throughput by default, 75 Mbps with the performance licence and over 1.2 Gbps CEF-only with the boost licence. It has two onboard 10/100/1000 WAN or LAN ports, which are two RJ-45 ports, plus one SFP port, and two NIM slots with no SM-X slots. The NIM slots connect to the route processor at 1 Gbps.
Memory is 4 GB of fixed DRAM and 8 GB of fixed flash. A combined RJ-45 CON/AUX port provides a serial console and auxiliary port up to 115.2 kbps. Power is an external AC supply only, 100 to 240 VAC autoranging at 47 to 63 Hz with a 1.5 to 0.6 A input current, typical draw of 24 W with no modules and a maximum of 90 W. The ISR 4221 does not supply PoE.
The chassis is 1RU and measures 1.72 x 12.7 x 10 in (43.7 x 322.6 x 254 mm); a 19 in rack-mount kit is optional.
Cisco announced end-of-sale on November 7, 2022; the end-of-sale date is November 7, 2023 and the last date of support is November 30, 2028. The notice names the C8200L-1N-4T as the replacement.
