NCS-5501-SE is the Cisco Network Convergence System 5500 fixed router in a 1RU chassis with 40 ports of 1GE/10GE and 4 ports of 40GE/100GE. Cisco lists up to 800 Gbps of system throughput and an integrated route processor with an 8-core, 2 GHz x86 CPU.
FIB scale is up to 2 million entries on this model. Typical output power is 260 W at 25 C and the maximum is 420 W at 55 C. The router has two hot-swappable power supplies in 1+1 redundancy and two hot-swappable fan trays.
Cisco lists the chassis at 1.72 in (4.37 cm) high, 17.4 in (44.20 cm) wide and 21.7 in (55.12 cm) deep, and the NCS-5501-SE weighs 23.5 lb (10.66 kg). It runs Cisco IOS XR Software Release 6.1.1 and later.
The base NCS-5501 has 48 ports of 1GE/10GE and 6 ports of 40GE/100GE, with up to 1 million FIB entries.
